Looking for a Splitwise alternative?

Splitwise’s own help centre says the free tier now has a daily expense limit, and its Pro page sells "unlimited expenses" and an ad-free experience as paid features. MuCash gives you both for nothing.

What actually differs

Nobody has to install anything

Add a flatmate as a name and split with them immediately. This is the single biggest reason a shared book dies: you are waiting on four people to sign up.

No daily ceiling

Log twenty expenses on the day you move in. There is no counter, and nothing stops mid-month.

Nudging is one tap

A ready-made message goes out through WhatsApp with the amount already in it, so nobody has to compose the awkward text.

Where Splitwise is still ahead

It has been going since 2011, so it has far more users — if the people you split with are already on it, that counts for a lot. It also scans receipts and integrates with payment services in some countries. We do neither yet.

Try it without signing up

The calculator does the maths in your browser. The app remembers it for next month.
